All programs emphasize dynamic approaches to addressing major issues facing markets, states, cities, and regions. Graduates, upon successful completion of two years of study, are awarded a degree corresponding to their chosen discipline. Each degree program is structured to equip students with advanced analytical capabilities and practical tools for academic, policy, and professional careers.
Master's Programs in International Studies
The Global Strategy and Intelligence Studies program at Hanyang University GSIS is Korea’s first in-depth graduate program specializing in global strategy, intelligence analysis, and leadership for dynamic and uncertain global environments. The curriculum is built around the core concepts of “global,” “strategy,” and “intelligence,” intended to train professionals with analytical insight, strategic thinking, and advanced information analysis skills. The program is offerred in both Korean and English.
The Sustainable Economics program at Hanyang University GSIS is designed to develop future leaders and experts in sustainable economic growth, policy, and social innovation through a multidisciplinary approach. Students learn to analyze and design solutions for issues ranging from global inequality to climate change and responsible economic growth. The program encourages active engagement with local communities and global networks for real-world impact and reform, partnering with organizations such as ICOOP and SK for joint initiatives. The program is offerred in both English and Korean.
Our Master's in East Asian Studies program is designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the history, culture, economics, and politics of East Asia within a global context. This program features interdisciplinary courses that explore the dynamics of the region, blending topics like regional development, cultural exchange, international relations, and comparative studies of East Asian societies.
Two-Language Tracks
The East Asian Studies program at Hanyang University GSIS is organized into two distinct tracks: a Chinese language-based track and an English language-based track. This dual-track approach allows students to choose their preferred medium of instruction and professional focus, catering to both Korean and international scholars.
English Track

The Korean Studies program at Hanyang University GSIS is a multidisciplinary, globally focused department designed for international students seeking deep expertise in Korean history, culture, politics, society, and economics. Two Tracks
The program consists of two specialized tracks: the general Korean Studies Track and the Korean Language Education and Korean Studies Track. The general Korean Studies Track is taught entirely in English and is open only to non-Korean applicants.
Korean Studies Program (English Track)

This interdisciplinary program is conducted entirely in English and is open exclusively to non-Korean applicants.

This master's program educates students on Korean history, culture, politics, international relations, and economics, as well as Korea’s place in East Asia and the world.

The student body is highly international, with graduates often pursuing academic positions in Korea or their home countries after graduation.
Korean Language Education and Korean Studies Program (Bilingual Track)

This track is designed to prepare Korean language teachers for foreigners and combines Korean regional studies with professional language education training.

Courses are taught in both Korean and English.

Applicants must demonstrate adequate Korean proficiency (TOPIK Level 4 or equivalent).

Graduates receive a government-issued certificate as a Korean Language Teacher for Foreigners, provided they achieve TOPIK Level 6 before graduation.

Every student in each program is required to submit a thesis for graduation. However, those that have met the following requirements may be exempted. - Published an article at a KCI indexed journal - Made a presentation at an academic conference - Have taken 3 more credits than the minimum requirement |
