(ICS)

The institute of Chinese Studies (ICS) was founded in 1974 as the first research center for Chinese Studies in order to enhance cross-disciplinary understandings of China, bring together scholars from different disciplines to exchange insights and experience, and work closely with other research centers and institutes for Chinese studies domestically in South Korea and internationally.

The research of ICS focuses on the areas of the politics, economy, society, culture and history of China. Based on the research data accumulated so far for over 40years, ICS is committed to constructing and promoting the mutual understanding between South Korea and China by transferring knowledge and insights to students, scholars and broader community.

Hanyang University is home to a five floor research institute called the China Institute. The China Institute houses information which students can use to build a research foundation throughout their International Studies program.

Academic Forums

China Forum
China’s domestic issues and foreign relations will be explored by a China expert. Seminars will be held on the 7th floor in the video conference room.
Planning Forum
Members of distinguished research institutes, members of research projects, and external agencies will hold quarterly meetings to discuss new projects for the China Institute at Hanyang University.
International Conference
China’s domestic policies and overseas [policy will be discussed with invited scholars and experts from all over the world. There are many published journals and other publications which have come from the China Institute and Hanyang University.
