Russian Studies of the Hanyang University Graduate School was established in the March of 1997. Its main objective is to cultivate Russia and Eurasia specialists who have Russian and English language skills, knowledge on theories about national economics, and regional knowledge on CIS countries, including Russia- ultimately building the skillsets to work in government agencies, corporations, and international NGOs after graduation.
The major is especially specialized into three categories, which are Analysis of Russian polity, Korean-Russian Trade and Investment, and Russian Field Management.
The Asia-Pacific Research Center (Chief: Gu Ho Eom) is a pioneer in the regional studies of Russia and Eurasia and was selected to be sponsored by Humanities Korea as part of their Foreign Area Studies Services in November 2007 with the topic of "Eurasian Identity and Coexistence of Civilizations: Establishment of an Eurasian Scholarship System and Establishment of a Regional Integrated Information System ".
Through research projects closely connected to the graduate school, it provides students diverse opportunities in participating in researches and real-life experiences. The Center also provides scholarship benefits through research assistant programs.
A Regional Specialists Training Program has been available since March 2008 in cooperation with the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy as well. It provides various benefits including courses about different Russian and Central Asian regions and special lectures on practical matters, opportunities for overseas internships and field experiences, aid for student seminar activities, and scholarships.
